MARÍA MORILLO
Costume Designer / Costume Supervisor
about María Morillo
With a broad and dynamic career spanning fashion, costume design, and fine arts, I bring a wealth of experience across multiple genres including theater, film, television, documentaries, advertising, music videos, television series, and reality shows. My expertise encompasses both large-scale period projects and contemporary designs, reflecting my ability to adapt to diverse creative requirements.
My career began in Venezuela and Colombia, where I honed my skills in costume design for various productions. A significant milestone in my career was joining NBC Universal’s Telemundo network in the U.S., where I worked as a Costume Designer for four years. This role allowed me to deepen my understanding of high-quality costume design in a major international market.

In 2021, I relocated to Los Angeles to explore new opportunities within the costume design field. Since moving to LA, I have worked on a range of productions from feature films to shorts, including advertising and editorials. A highlight of my career in LA was serving as a supervisor for the Launchpad series of independent short films produced by Walt Disney Pictures. This role involved supporting emerging talent and providing creative solutions to help bring their designs to life.

Additionally, I had the privilege of collaborating as a Tutor for Film@Future, a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering professional-level filmmaking programs to underserved teenagers in Los Angeles. This experience allowed me to give back to the community and inspire the next generation of filmmakers.

As costume designer, I am committed, and communicative, with a strong emphasis on aligning with the director’s and producers' vision to bring each project to life. I am hands-on, detail-oriented, and resourceful, with an extensive network of costume houses, tailors, and costumers in LA. My strengths lie in both collaborative teamwork and effective delegation as the head of the wardrobe department.
Introducing new perspectives and innovative approaches is what drives me in my work, enriching the overall aesthetic and narrative of each project. I am dedicated to ensuring that the costume design supports and enhances the story, remaining congruent with the project's conception and development.
